The Cheltenham Jazz Festival (May 1-6) has announced part of its programme today. (FOLLOW THIS LINK) . Full programme will be out on Feb 11th:
- Saxophonist Ravi Coltrane will present music from Spirit Fiction (Blue Note). His quintet has Ralph Alessi, David Virelles, Drew Gress and Eric McPherson.
- BBC Radio 2's Friday Night is Music Night will celebrate Georgie Fame at 70 - with the Guy Barker Big band, the BBC Concert Orchestra, Georgie and guests.
- Dave Douglas and his quintet will perform material from his album Be Still, dedicated to the memory of his mother - guest vocalist Heather Masse.
- Mike Gibbs, with a 12-piece ensemble led by keyboardist Hans Koller.
- Mike Stern with Bill Evans (saxophone), Dave Weckl (drums) and Tom Kennedy (bass)
- Gary Burton's group with guitarist Julian Lage, Jorge Roeder (bass)and Antonio Sanchez (drums).
- The Anglo-Norwegian goup Edition Records Quartet: Dave Stapleton, Neil Yates, Marius Neset and Daniel Herskedal.
- A double bill of Roller Trio and Polar Bear.
- The Noisettes
