"This exciting development in Emma Smith's career is so typical of her unwillingness to be boxed-in or to simply fall back on the old tried and tested formulae like many a singer.

The Worshipful Company (of which I am part) has watched Emma in recent years develop her craft; from her tenure with NYJO, to her winning of our 2013 Award for Young Jazz Musician.

In fact Emma will receive the Award this Sunday 18th May at London's Pizza Express, Dean Street where she will perform a couple of sets of "songs with which I grew up". Musicians' Company Jazz wish Emma well. May she continue to push back boundaries!
