Jazz quartet Empirical took its music to the people in Feburary last year with their Pop-Up Lounge at Old Street Station in London. Now they are repeating the exercise in other cities, starting with Birmingham. Empirical will be taking over an empty shop in Great Western Arcade, in the Colmore business district of Birmingham from Tuesday 25 to Saturday 29 April.
Workers on their way to work, taking a lunchtime break or on their way home, shoppers, commuters from the nearby Snow Hill Station, pensioners wanting a break from big city bustle - all can take advantage of the Empirical musical offering - and it's all free.
Here's their promotional video from last year's Pop-Up Lounge:
There will be daily lunchtime and evening commuter sets, evening performances on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, and even if you have to be at work by 8.30am, there's still a mid-week chance to hear the band - they have one session planned for 8am.
