Peter Bacon reports:

The Jazz Cafe, in Camden, has a rich and eclectic spread of events coming up. Among the highlights open for booking are the Art Ensemble of Chicago on 4 June, rising U.S. trumpet star Keyon Harrold on 12 April and the godfather of jazz-inflected TV themes, Bob James, on 2 May.

Before then there are some tasty tribute nights: Ray’s Story, in which a bunch of players pay homage to Ray Charles, next Monday, 29 January; Herbie Hancock’s game-changing Head Hunters album recreated by Project Karnak on Saturday 3 February; and Donald Byrd’s Black Byrd is the subject, with Cuban-born Yelfris Valdés taking the Donald role, in the latest presentation in the Classic Album Sundays series – counter-intuitively this is on Monday 5 February.

Also worth looking out for are: Soothsayers on Friday 9 February; a bass double bill on Friday 16 February with Adam Ben Ezra and the Dan Casimir Quintet in support; and percussion wizard Trilok Gurtu on Tuesday 27 March.

This and loads more soul, world, etc, music with restaurant or standing tickets can be found on the Jazz Cafe website.
