In 2008, the Chairman of Cambridge/London-based classical music agent Hazard Chase, James Brown, lost his brother Robert to pancreatic cancer. Hazard Chase organise concerts and other activity to support the work of the charity Pancreatic Cancer UK, marking a rare departure from the unwritten convention by which classical music agents continue to operate: that their influential behind-the-scenes work is normally more or less unacknowledged. This Gala Concert, with a programme devised by Guy Barker and hosted by Sir Michael Parkinson, will take place on 11 July 2019 at Cadogan Hall.

The Press Release states:

"The Guy Barker Jazz Orchestra will be joined by an exciting line-up of award-winning guest soloists: saxophonist Amy Dickson, pianist Benjamin Grosvenor, clarinetist Giacomo Smith and celebrated vocalist and Radio 2 broadcaster Clare Teal."

Guy Barker comments: “The programme offers the chance to hear an all-star line up of artists both from the jazz and classical worlds,Clare Teal offers up a selection of vocal favourites including Mr Paganini, synonymous with Queen of Jazz Ella Fitzgerald; Amy Dickson performs a brand new Piazzolla Medley for saxophone; Giacomo Smith, known for leading Kansas Smitty’s House Band, plays Artie Shaw’s Clarinet Concerto; and the great Benjamin Grosvenor is the soloist for Gershwin’s masterpiece, Rhapsody in Blue, in its original 1924 jazz band version. We are extremely grateful to all of these artists for donating their services to the cause.”
